Frostbite Spiders are oversized arachnids that drop from cave ceilings and spit venom at you. Plenty of players meet their first big one in Bleak Falls Barrow during the quest of the same name – a Wounded Frostbite Spider guarding the web where Arvel the Swift is stuck. The Giant Frostbite Spider, standing taller than you, becomes more common in dungeons once you pass level 40 or so.
Variants
Regular Frostbite Spiders come in four sizes: small and large, each in a red version (temperate areas) and a tougher white version (colder areas). Regular spiders carry a petty soul, giant ones a lesser soul.
Where to find them
Caves, ruins and webbed tunnels throughout Skyrim. Thick webs on walls and doorways are a good sign that one is nearby.

How to beat it
Look up when you enter a webbed room. Back off to dodge the spit, then attack between volleys. Cure Poison or Resist Poison potions help, and fire spells make short work of the smaller ones.
