Mine or Yours is a quick extermination job in the little mining village of Shor’s Stone in the Rift. Frostbite spiders have moved into Redbelly Mine, the miners have stopped working and the village money has dried up. The blacksmith Filnjar would very much like someone with a weapon to evict the eight-legged squatters.
How to start
Speak to Filnjar, the blacksmith of Shor’s Stone. He explains that no one has been hurt yet and the spiders seem to stay inside, but without the mine the village is sunk. Agree to help.
Walkthrough
Clear Redbelly Mine of spiders
Redbelly Mine is right in the settlement, just west-northwest of Filnjar’s house. Inside you face five frostbite spiders, two of them the larger, tougher variant. The two big ones hit noticeably harder, so a bow from a distance or a sturdy follower helps at low levels.
Return to Filnjar
Once the last spider is dead, the objective updates. Head back to Filnjar to collect your pay.
Rewards
Filnjar pays a leveled amount of gold:
- Level 1-9: 500 gold
- Level 10-19: 750 gold
- Level 20-29: 1,000 gold
- Level 30-39: 1,250 gold
- Level 40+: 1,500 gold
Because the payout climbs with your level, it is worth waiting if you are still low level and only passing through.
Tips and notes
- Filnjar claims nobody has been hurt, but you will find several corpses inside the mine.
- He calls Redbelly an iron mine when asked, yet the mine actually holds veins of ebony ore. Bring a pickaxe once the spiders are gone.
- With the mine working again, the miners return to their daytime shifts.
- Shor’s Stone sits on the road north of Riften, so this is easy to pick up early when exploring the Rift.
- The quest is a one-off: once Filnjar has paid, there is no follow-up task tied to the mine.
