The Reckless Mage is a nameless Nord who only exists to get killed. He is one of the ten recurring targets the Dark Brotherhood can send you after once its main storyline is done, and despite the title, the game files list him as a low-level warrior.
Where to find them
When his contract is active, he appears inside the Frozen Hearth, the inn in Winterhold. Fittingly for a ‘mage’, he’s just down the hill from the College of Winterhold.
Quests
The Dark Brotherhood Forever – a contractor asks you to kill the Reckless Mage. He is one of the random targets this repeatable quest can hand you; he is simply one more name on the list.
Good to know
He has no backstory beyond the contract, so there’s not much to feel guilty about. Pick your moment, though: the Frozen Hearth is small, and witnesses mean a bounty.
