Assur is a Nord boy living in Winterhold, the son of Jarl Korir and Thaena. Someday, he informs you, he’s going to grow up and be the Jarl.
Where to find them
He lives with his parents in the Jarl’s Longhouse and plays around the half-ruined town. If you side with the Imperials and complete Rescue from Fort Kastav, the family relocates to Brunwulf’s house in Windhelm.
Personality & relationships
Assur soaks up everything his father says. He repeats that elves can’t be trusted, that the College is to blame for most of Winterhold sliding into the sea, and he has heard the mages teach you to kill people with magic. In one overheard chat with Korir he ends up declaring that he hates the College, to his dad’s obvious approval.
His only regular playmate is Eirid, and their favourite game is “Hunt the Elf”, where Assur always makes her be the elf. It suggests a mean streak picked up at home, though he seems fairly harmless otherwise.
If you’re known as a mage, he’ll run over and ask you to turn him invisible. He’ll also ask you to play tag or hide and seek, which counts toward the Hero of the People achievement. Whether you’re human or elf changes how warmly he greets you, and if the Legion takes over Winterhold he becomes downright hostile.
Good to know
Like other children, Assur is protected and can’t be killed. If his opinion of you sours, though, this little lordling is perfectly capable of hiring thugs to teach you a lesson.
