Quintus Navale is an Imperial alchemist who left Cyrodiil for Windhelm for one reason: the chance to study under Nurelion. He works as the old Altmer’s apprentice at The White Phial, putting up with endless scolding because he genuinely believes he is learning from a master.
Where to find them
He lives and works at The White Phial. Once Nurelion has passed away, Quintus runs the shop himself.
Quests
The White Phial: Quintus worries that his master is too old to go after the relic himself. When the Phial you bring back turns out to be cracked and Nurelion falls gravely ill, Quintus resolves to look after him to the end and gives you a more fitting reward for your trouble.
Repairing the Phial: after The Throat of the World, Quintus writes to you – he believes he can fix the Phial if you gather some rare ingredients. Once it’s repaired, he carries it upstairs so Nurelion can see it, and the old elf dies content. Quintus can’t bear to keep the relic as a reminder of his master’s obsession, so he gives it to you.
Sondas’s note: Sondas Drenim may ask you to deliver an order for medicine for the miners of Darkwater Crossing. Quintus fills it straight away and tips you a few septims.
Services
He sells potions and alchemy ingredients.
Follower & marriage
After Repairing the Phial is done, Quintus becomes a marriage candidate. Wear an Amulet of Mara when you talk to him to bring it up.
Personality & relationships
Quintus is earnest, humble and endlessly patient. He insists he’ll never match his master’s skill with potions, yet he tries to keep up his own projects on the side – reading up on distillation or arrowroot infusions – which mostly earns him another telling-off.
