Sondas Drenim is a Dark Elf miner working at Goldenrock Mine in Darkwater Crossing. He claims he has been hacking ore out of rock for more than a century, which makes him the veteran of a mine that is only a few years old. He also happens to dress like a bartender, for reasons nobody explains.
Where to find them
Most of the day he is inside the mine chipping away at corundum ore. When he takes a break, look for him by the campfire near the tents outside.
Quests
Deliver Sondas’s Note to Quintus – ask Sondas how long he has been mining and he explains that the tunnels are getting deep, the air is foul and the miners are coughing from the ore dust. He was about to write to Windhelm for medicine, and if you offer to help he hands you a note for Quintus Navale at the White Phial.
Follower & marriage
Once his note has been delivered, Sondas becomes a marriage candidate. Wear an Amulet of Mara and talk to him to propose. If he moves into your home after the wedding, Hrefna may come to visit now and then.
Personality & relationships
Sondas is a genuinely nice guy. He acts as a stand-in father for Hrefna whenever her mother Tormir is busy, and he finds the girl smart and fun, if capable of talking your ear off. When Tormir frets about the mysterious elf Meieran teaching her daughter, Sondas reassures her that Meieran is a good elf he trusts.
Despite being a Dunmer, he has lived in Skyrim his whole life and has no wish to see Morrowind, which he has only heard bad stories about. He notes that the war has spared his friends so far, though soldiers pass through all the time. He also wonders aloud what became of Derkeethus, who went looking for fish by the falls and never came back.
