Druadach Redoubt is a Forsworn stronghold in the Druadach Mountains, northwest of Harmugstahl and Dragontooth Crater. It is made up of a small riverside camp and, up a path guarded by two Forsworn, a large cave cut into the cliff. Depending on your choices in Markarth’s prison break, it is either a hostile camp full of briar hearts or a surprisingly cosy place to crash.
What you’ll find
- Druadach Redoubt Cave: one huge cavern with a hole in the roof that lets in enough daylight for trees to grow. The Forsworn have turned it into their main living quarters.
- A garden with potato plants and a small harvesting area.
- Crafting galore: forge, anvil, grindstones, tanning rack, cooking spit, wood chopping block and a grain mill.
- Two quicksilver ore veins by the north wall in the garden, and an iron ore vein on the northern wall near the entrance.
- A goat that will happily charge the Forsworn on your behalf and follows you around – but only inside the cave.
- An unlocked cage on the top level, with a dead bandit lying in the bushes nearby.
- A Forsworn Briarheart leading the camp if it is hostile.
Quests
- No One Escapes Cidhna Mine: if you help Madanach, all the Forsworn here become friendly, and Madanach himself plus several of his followers can turn up here.
- A bounty from Jarl Igmund to kill a Forsworn leader can point here.
- Possible location for Logrolf the Willful in The House of Horrors, and for Meridia’s Beacon in The Break of Dawn.
- Possible location for The Forgemaster’s Fingers, Lisbet’s Missing Shipment and a Fetch Me That Book! request.
Notable items
- Light Armor skill book The Rear Guard, on a shelf.
- A chest in the Briarheart’s tent that may hold a quest item such as Hjalti’s Sword, Lisbet’s Dibella Statue or the Forgemaster’s Fingers.
- A map on a table at the back of the cave. It vanishes when you use it and never shows up in your inventory, but it marks most Forsworn camps on your world map.
Tips
Sided with Madanach? This place becomes a free base: the hay piles are all yours to sleep on and there is plenty of food lying around. Just don’t stash your valuables here, because the containers respawn and will eat your loot.
Even with friendly Forsworn, the two guards outside still go after animal companions like Meeko or Barbas and any horse you ride. Killing those two sorts it out without upsetting the rest. If you only need the leader dead for a bounty, pickpocketing his briar heart is a famously quiet solution.
Good to know
The Forsworn living here are not in the regular Forsworn faction, so if they like you, you may see them brawling with other Forsworn in the area. The ones at Karthspire Camp and other camps stay hostile no matter what.
