The Wreck of The Pride of Tel Vos is the broken hull of a ship lying in the icy shallows east of Winterhold and west of The Serpent Stone. Bandits have set up camp on two little islands next to it. Come for the quest journal, stay for the surprisingly generous ore veins.
What you’ll find
- Bandits camped on the two small islands beside the wreck, led by a Bandit Chief.
- A waterlogged chest at the waterline in the northern half of the ship, guarded by a bear trap placed right in front of it.
- A chest at the top of the ship.
- A tanning rack and a cooking spit in the bandit camp.
- Plenty of ore: two iron veins and a corundum vein, plus a gold vein and a silver vein on the west island.
Quests
- Distant Memories – Brand-Shei wants to learn about his family, and the clue you need, Lymdrenn Telvanni’s Journal, is in the waterlogged chest.
- Find the Helm of Winterhold – one of the possible spots for the helm Jarl Korir wants back.
- Shalidor’s Insights – a possible location for the book Urag gro-Shub is hunting.
Notable items
- Lymdrenn Telvanni’s Journal
- Meridia’s Beacon may turn up in the chest at the top of the ship
Tips
Look before you grab: that bear trap in front of the journal chest is placed exactly where your eager feet will land. Clear the bandits on the islands first so you can mine in peace – with gold, silver, iron and corundum all within a short swim, this is one of the better mining stops on the north coast. The water is freezing, so don’t linger in it longer than you need to.
Good to know
The ship is most likely named after Tel Vos, a Telvanni wizard tower on Vvardenfell. Windhelm’s guards gossip about the wreck and confusingly call it “The Eye of Talos”, while Brand-Shei uses the right name – and Winterhold’s own guards say nothing about it at all.
