Deepwood Redoubt is an old Nord tomb west of Solitude, a short trip from the village of Dragon Bridge. Forsworn have moved in, and the tomb is packed with traps. It doesn’t end where you’d expect: the passages run straight through the mountain to Deepwood Vale, a big Forsworn camp, which in turn leads to Hag’s End. Plan for a long outing.
What you’ll find
- Forsworn guarding the outside and more inside, including two on a caged bridge.
- Rock ledges you can hop across to a hidden platform with a locked chest and a dead adventurer – and a perfect sniping perch.
- A swinging blade trap, a room of rune traps and a swinging spiked gate on a pressure plate.
- A Master-locked door; a key lies by a bucket in the bedroom, and a Forsworn carries another.
- An arcane enchanter, and in Deepwood Vale an alchemy lab, a forge and lots more Forsworn including a shaman and a Briarheart.
- A climbable mountain by the waterfall next to the Hag’s End door, with a locked chest, a quicksilver ore vein and Predator’s Grace.
Quests
A popular radiant target. It can be the spot for Logrolf in The House of Horrors, a Forsworn-leader bounty, a job for the Companions from Vilkas, The Forgemaster’s Fingers, Lisbet’s Dibella statue, The Ghost of Old Hroldan, or “Fetch Me That Book!” from Urag gro-Shub.
Notable items
- Sacred Witness – Sneak skill book in the Vale tent with the alchemy lab.
- Predator’s Grace on the mountain ledge.
- A Black Soul Gem, the Forsworn Missive, a Forsworn Note and The Legend of Red Eagle (reading it starts a miscellaneous quest).
- The Arcturian Heresy.
Tips
Use the ledges behind you in the first big room: the Forsworn below can’t reach you there, so archers and mages can clear the area at leisure. Watch out for a fleeing Forsworn who may try to set off the blade trap ahead of you – rude, but clever.
In the Vale, a Master-locked door across the stream offers a side route into the camp. Follow the stream to its end for a locked chest, and check under the bridge by the forge for another.
