Mount Moesring is the highest peak on Solstheim, rising south of Moesring Pass. It is one of four secret landmarks added with the Dragonborn expansion, and the reward for climbing it is not loot but a view: almost the whole island laid out below you. If you like screenshots, this is the island’s best balcony.
What you’ll find
- An extremely rough, dangerous climb to the top.
- A hidden marker that only appears on your compass when you get very close.
- A fast-travel point once discovered, working like any other location.
- To the south: Tel Mithryn and the Bulwark of Raven Rock clearly in view.
- To the north: two more of the secret summit landmarks, Mortrag Peak and Frykte Peak.
Tips
Approach from Moesring Pass to the north, since the mountain sits directly south of it. Take your time: the terrain is the main enemy, and a careless slide can undo several minutes of progress. Save before tricky jumps, and keep an eye on your compass – the marker shows up only when you are already close, so its appearance is your sign that you are on the right track. Once discovered, fast travel makes repeat visits easy, which is handy if you want to scout the island from above before heading out to explore. Use the view to plan routes: with Tel Mithryn and Raven Rock in sight to the south and the snowy peaks to the north, you can pick out where you have been and where you still need to go.
Good to know
Climbing the island’s tallest mountain earns you no gold, no shout and no applause – just bragging rights. Pairing it with Hvitkald Peak and the two northern summits makes a fine mountaineering tour of the island for players who have run out of dungeons and still have plenty of stamina potions.
