Hefid the Deaf is a Nord beggar who has hidden herself away in the Ratway Warrens beneath Riften. Her mind is clearly gone, and she spends her days muttering to herself in the dark.
Where to find them
Most of the time she’s shut inside a small, dark room in the Warrens.
Personality & relationships
Hefid recites an inventory of her worldly goods over and over: an inkpot, a stone, a bucket, a book and a knife. Take a closer look at that stone and you’ll find it’s actually a flawless gem, a nice find for a budding thief. She also throws out remarks about death being overrated and nobody ever finding her, which suggests that, like Esbern, she treats the Warrens as a hiding place where no one will come looking.
Pickpocket something from her list and her muttering changes to match. Beyond that she has nothing to offer and is mostly harmless, although she can turn hostile at random.
Good to know
- During A Cornered Rat, Esbern may attack her if she gets startled and draws her knife. She’ll just run away.
