From-Deepest-Fathoms is an Argonian woman hanging around the docks outside Riften, desperate to get rid of a Dwemer artifact called the Lexicon. She starts the quest Unfathomable Depths, and most of her story is told through ghostly echoes you’ll see later in a Dwemer ruin.
Where to find them
She doesn’t appear until you hit level 14. After that, look for her on the Riften docks; the infobox also lists Haelga’s Bunkhouse as one of her spots. Once the quest is over she takes a job at the Riften Fishery alongside Wujeeta.
Quests
Unfathomable Depths – She comes up to you and pleads with you to take the Lexicon off her hands and carry it back to Avanchnzel, a Dwemer ruin to the west. Inside you’ll see apparitions of her earlier expedition: she and three other adventurers, Drennen, Breya and Roots, broke in to steal the cube. Drennen lost his nerve and fled, and of the rest only Fathoms got past the Dwemer traps and escaped with the Lexicon. The memories stored inside it have tormented her ever since.
If you turn her down, she may vanish after drifting around the docks for a while, and her belongings turn up in a coffin in the city’s Hall of the Dead. The quest isn’t lost, though: lift the Lexicon from that coffin and carry on as normal.
Personality & relationships
The echoes show a much sharper version of her. She mocks the others’ nerves, cheerfully reminds Breya that they’re thieves themselves, offers double pay once Drennen runs, and corrects Roots when he says the Lexicon’s knowledge will be his rather than theirs. The haunted woman on the docks is a long way from that. She simply wants the voices in her head to stop.
Good to know
- If you’re handing out pamphlets for Dinya Balu, she still reacts to them after moving to the fishery, though otherwise she has no unique dialogue there.
