Erikur is a Nord Thane at the court of Jarl Elisif the Fair in Solitude and easily the richest, smuggest man in the room. He lives in a house in the city with his sister Gisli and his housecarl Melaran, a mage who specialises in Alteration. By his own account he has a stake in almost everything that matters in Solitude. The Protected shadowmark on his doorframe hints that the Thieves Guild knows him well.
Where to find them
In the Blue Palace or at his house in Solitude. He also attends parties at the Thalmor Embassy.
Quests
- Diplomatic Immunity – Erikur is a guest at Elenwen‘s reception and can’t stop staring at Brelas, the Bosmer serving girl. If you talk to him, you can offer to arrange a meeting. Either way he can be used as the distraction you need. When Brelas turns him down, he accuses her of throwing herself at him and has her sent downstairs to the Thalmor – a nasty glimpse of who he really is.
- The Dainty Sload – a Thieves Guild job arranged through Delvin Mallory. Captain Volf of the Dainty Sload broke a trade agreement with Erikur, so Erikur wants you to buy Balmora Blue from Sabine Nytte and plant it in Volf’s footlocker. He takes care of the authorities. Kill Erikur before this job and it can’t be completed.
Personality & relationships
Erikur makes no secret of what drives him. To him, investments are strength and wealth is a weapon, and honor is a luxury even he can’t afford. He supports the Empire because the Empire is good for business. Still, he talks about selling elven weapons to the rebels too if they can pay. At court he argues with Bryling at every opportunity, waving away her worries about the roads – people who can afford guards have nothing to fear. Falk Firebeard doesn’t trust him either and has heard rumors about his dealings with the pirates of the Red Wave.
At home he isn’t much nicer. He calls Melaran a lazy milk-drinker and keeps raising the rent on his tenants, which, as Gisli points out, is why the tailors at Radiant Raiment charge him double. Gisli runs his errands and resents him for his rudeness.
Good to know
- If Bryling or her housecarl Irnskar Ironhand dies, Erikur sends you a cheerful thank-you letter.
- If Erikur dies, hired thugs may come after you with a contract paid for by Gisli. You may also get thank-you notes from Gisli and from Melaran.
- A cut quest, Boethiah’s Bidding, would have made him Jarl of Solitude after Elisif’s death, which is why the game files still class him as a jarl.
