Edda is an Imperial beggar in Riften. Life on the streets has hit her hard: she’s cold, hungry and increasingly gripped by fear and paranoia, and she isn’t shy about sharing her darkest thoughts with anyone who stops.
Where to find them
During the day she hangs around the marketplace asking for a coin. At night she sleeps in Beggar’s Row together with Snilf and Madesi.
Personality & relationships
Her fellow beggar Snilf knows exactly how fragile she is. Her chatter swings from begging to bitter complaints that nobody would notice if the poor died, to a very real terror of death itself, to confusion about how a city can look so gloomy amid all those autumn colors. Sometimes you arrive in Riften to find her dead in front of Snilf, who wonders aloud whether her paranoia was justified after all. Oddly, if Snilf and Madesi go after a vampire, Edda takes the vampire’s side.
Good to know
- Give her a coin and you get The Gift of Charity: +10 Speech for an hour.
- Drop weapons or armor at her feet and she may ask to keep them. Show her some kindness and she may help you in a fight, or leave you an inheritance if she later dies.
- If a Fear spell sends Grelod the Kind running outside and Edda sees it, the beggar will go and kill her.
