Zaria is a Redguard alchemist and the owner of Grave Concoctions, the potion shop in Falkreath. The name sounds alarming for a place that sells healing salves, and she knows it – but in a town built around an enormous old cemetery, it fits right in.
Where to find them
She runs her shop, Grave Concoctions, in Falkreath and is usually behind the counter inviting you to browse. She has lived in town for more than twelve years.
Quests
Zaria can be one of the targets of the Companions’ “Hired Muscle” jobs, where you’re sent to start a brawl and rough someone up. She’s essential, so a fistfight is as bad as it gets.
Services
She’s an alchemy merchant, selling tonics and healing potions. Despite the spooky shop name she insists her stock is perfectly reliable.
Personality & relationships
Ask about the name of her store and she explains Falkreath’s running joke: the town is defined by its ancient graveyard, so the inn is Dead Man’s Drink, the farm is Corpselight Farm, and so on. Ask why a Redguard ended up this far north and she tells you her family in Hammerfell disapproved of her fascination with deadly poisons and death in general. She wandered north, found this graveyard town, opened her shop and never looked back.
Banter with the innkeeper Valga Vinicia reveals that Zaria is a former soldier, and she has little patience for the civil war – in her opinion, if either side had a bit of Redguard fire in them it would already be over.
Good to know
Zaria is flagged essential even though no quest needs her. The likely reason: she was originally meant to take over from Helvard as housecarl to Siddgeir and Dengeir, an idea that never made it into the finished game. Some players also find they can’t invest in her shop.
