Solaf is a Nord merchant who owns Gray Pine Goods, the general store in Falkreath. He used to fight for the Stormcloaks until a wound in a skirmish near Windhelm ended his soldiering years ago. He is the older brother of Bolund, who runs the lumber mill.
Where to find them
Behind the counter at Gray Pine Goods during the day. He also drinks at Dead Man’s Drink, where he tells Valga to keep them coming and keep them strong.
Services
Gray Pine Goods is the general goods shop in town, so it’s the place to sell off loot and stock up on everyday supplies.
Personality & relationships
Unlike his brother, Solaf has no problem with strangers – he met plenty of them in the army. He no longer carries a blade for Ulfric, but he still believes Skyrim is Nord land and should be ruled by Nords. He’s happy in Falkreath with a decent job under a decent Jarl and plans to stay put until the war arrives, which leads to regular arguments with Bolund, whom he excuses as young and easily riled. Friendly or not, he will remind you not to steal anything on your way out, even after you’ve invested in his shop.
Good to know
- If you kill Narri, Solaf sends you a letter thanking you; ask him about it and he admits she was a rival he’d rather not discuss.
- If you kill Bolund, Solaf gets a unique conversation in which he either forgives you or attacks you.
- The game files say he is courting Tekla, though neither of them ever mentions it.
