Faleen is a Redguard warrior and the sworn housecarl of Jarl Igmund of Markarth. If the Jarl had a personal wall, it would be her. Walk up to the throne and she will be the one asking, not very politely, what you think you’re doing there.
Where to find them
She lives and works in Understone Keep, staying close to Igmund at the Mournful Throne. She is essential, so she won’t die on you during the Keep’s busier moments.
Quests
Faleen plays a part in The Book of Love: she and the court wizard Calcelmo are one of the couples you are asked to bring together. Calcelmo is smitten with her, and even compares her temper to that of a sabre cat while insisting he loves her anyway.
In the Civil War, if you side with the Stormcloaks or Markarth is handed over during the peace talks, Faleen goes into exile with Igmund and the other Imperial supporters at the Blue Palace in Solitude. She is just as protective of him there, and quite rude to anyone she thinks might be a Stormcloak.
Personality & relationships
Faleen served Igmund’s father, Hrolfdir, as housecarl too. When the Forsworn rose up, she got the badly wounded Igmund out of the city but couldn’t save his father. That failure explains a lot: she is close to paranoid about Igmund’s safety and wants the Forsworn to pay in blood.
At court she often agrees with the steward Raerek on anything that keeps the city safe, even if she finds him overcautious. She backs his call to lock up the Silver-Blood family, and she doubts that Legion soldiers know the hills and caves well enough to hunt the Forsworn down. According to Yngvar the Singer, she also has a soft spot for poetry.
Good to know
She is one of the few housecarls in the game who isn’t a Nord, alongside Irileth and a couple of others.
