Bersi Honey-Hand is a Nord shopkeeper in Riften and the owner of The Pawned Prawn, a general goods store near the market. He has a generous streak, and he is also one of the three stubborn shopkeepers who owe the Thieves Guild money.
Where to find them
He runs The Pawned Prawn together with his wife Drifa.
Quests
In Taking Care of Business, Brynjolf sends you to collect Bersi’s overdue debt. He scoffs that the Guild can’t even protect itself, so you’ll have to either beat him in a brawl or smash his treasured Dwemer urn. If you’ve already collected the other two debts, word has got around and he just pays. Either way you walk out with his 100 gold.
Services
The Pawned Prawn sells weapons, armour, food, books and potions. He also carries a Ring of Fortify Lockpicking, which is worth knowing if your fingers are light.
Personality & relationships
Bersi used to be a fisherman with a ship called the Brawny Prawn. He sold it to open the shop and named the store after her, a decision he now regrets. He thinks moving to Riften was a mistake and considers the whole city rotten, from the guards to the Jarl, whom he calls clueless. He thinks the Guild is a shadow of its feared former self. Drifa wishes he’d look after himself as much as he looks after others, and she nudges him to go to the Jarl about the Guild. Meanwhile a mysterious 300-septim entry for “spices” in their books has him asking awkward questions.
Good to know
- Smashing his urn or threatening him can lead to hired thugs coming after you. The same goes for killing Drifa.
- Pick a fight with him before Taking Care of Business and he may grab a Staff of Ice Spikes from the next room.
- A note in the shop suggests he is old friends with Wilhelm, the innkeeper of Ivarstead, and asked him to look into a nearby barrow for sellable trinkets.
