Salt Pile

Ordinary cooking salt – used in dozens of recipes, at the Atronach Forge and in alchemy.

Salt Pile is plain cooking salt, and you’ll find it everywhere food is stored. It’s one of the most-used ingredients in Skyrim’s kitchens, a crafting material at the Atronach Forge, and in alchemy it gives Fortify Restoration and Regenerate Magicka, with Slow and Weakness to Magic for poisons.

Tips and trivia

Cooking: Beef Stew, Venison Stew, Tomato Soup, Cooked Beef, Salmon Steak, Mammoth Steak and many more need salt – plus breads and sweet rolls with Hearthfire. At the Atronach Forge, a salt pile plus a soul gem and a ruby, sapphire or amethyst makes Fire Salts, Frost Salts or Void Salts.
