Dragonrend

Dragonrend (Joor Zah Frul) forces dragons to land. How to learn it in Alduin's Bane, what each word does and why every dragon fight gets easier.

Dragonrend is the shout the ancient Nords created to defeat Alduin. It forces a dragon to understand mortality – something a dragon’s mind can barely grasp – and the shock drags it out of the sky.

How to get it

You learn all three words during Alduin’s Bane, when you read the Elder Scroll at the Time-Wound on the Throat of the World and watch the heroes of old use it in the past. There’s no Word Wall for it.

Why it’s essential

Without Dragonrend, a dragon only lands on its own once its health drops below half. With it, you can pull it down whenever you like. Even one word does the job – more words just keep it grounded longer. And with a cooldown of only 10–15 seconds, you can keep it pinned for the whole fight.

Effect per word

All words force a dragon to land. Each extra word keeps it grounded longer.

Word Wall locations

No Word Wall. Learned at the Throat of the World during Alduin's Bane.
