Highmoon Hall

Jarl’s longhouse in Morthal where the reclusive Idgrod Ravencrone rules Hjaalmarch, with her family, steward, housecarl and an Imperial war room.

Highmoon Hall is the residence of the Jarl of Morthal and the central meeting place for the people of Hjaalmarch. It stands almost directly in front of where the carriage drops you off, so you really can’t miss it. Come here for jarl business, Hjaalmarch thaneship and a couple of books someone clearly hoped nobody would find.

What you’ll find

  • Main hall – much like the Jarl’s Longhouse in Falkreath: one large room with a long firebed and the Jarl’s throne beyond it.
  • Upstairs rooms – staircases on either side of the firebed lead to two small rooms: Idgrod the Younger uses the one facing south, Joric the one facing north.
  • Side rooms – past the firebed, the south room is the Imperial legate’s war room and the north room is the Jarl’s bedroom.
  • Loot – 21 potions, six chests and a Frost Salts lying around.

Residents

  • Jarl Idgrod Ravencrone – reclusive and mysterious, she spends her days pottering around the hall.
  • Aslfur – steward and Idgrod’s husband. He handles most grievances, and some wonder whether he’s sparing his wife or hiding her deteriorating condition.
  • Gorm – housecarl of Hjaalmarch.
  • Joric and Idgrod the Younger – the Jarl’s son and her heir.
  • Legate Taurinus Duilis – commander of the Legion in Hjaalmarch, an inconvenience the Jarl simply has to live with.
  • If the Stormcloaks take Morthal: Jarl Sorli the Builder, steward Pactur, housecarl Teeba-Ei and commander Arrald Frozen-Heart.

Notable items

  • Skill book The Locked Room (Lockpicking), mixed in with less valuable books in Joric’s room.
  • The Lusty Argonian Maid underneath Joric’s bed, and volume 2 tucked by the foot of his bed in the loft. Kids these days.
  • Frost Salts.

Tips

Check Joric’s room carefully – the skill book hides among ordinary books, so use the shelf rather than trusting the first title you see. The potions and chests make a quick early-game stop worth it, but it’s still the Jarl’s house: sneak first, loot second.
