Sorli the Builder is a Nord who runs the mining camp of Stonehills alongside her husband Pactur, overseer of Rockwallow Mine. At first glance she is just a brisk camp boss who would like you to keep walking. Side with the Stormcloaks, though, and she is the one who replaces Idgrod Ravencrone as Jarl of Morthal.
Where to find them
Before the war shakes things up she lives at Stonehills in a cottage with Pactur and their son Sirgar, while the miners make do with tents. Once she becomes Jarl she moves into Highmoon Hall in Morthal with Pactur as her steward and the miner Teeba-Ei as her housecarl, leaving Sirgar in charge of the camp.
Unlike most Jarls, she does not spend her time glued to the throne. Depending on how far you have come with a certain errand, you may find her wandering around town trailing after Falion.
Quests
As Jarl, Sorli takes over the part Idgrod plays in Laid to Rest. The Jarl has you look into the fire that killed Hroggar‘s family, and once a powerful vampire is revealed to be behind it, she gathers a band of townsfolk to march with you on Movarth’s Lair.
She is also where you hand in bounties for the area while she holds power.
Personality & relationships
Sorli is practical, a bit standoffish, and openly ambitious. Back at Stonehills she warns visitors that the camp has all the miners it needs. Once she gets the throne she says her leadership is finally being recognised, and she already sees Morthal as a stepping stone to a bigger hold like Riften.
Not everyone is impressed. Jorgen the mill owner grumbles that the town swapped a Jarl lost in her own head for one who only cares about herself. And if she is ever exiled from her seat, she greets you with open hostility.
Family matters to her. If you kill Sirgar and stick around long enough, Sorli will come looking for you to demand an apology. Refuse, and she attacks you until either you fall or she is knocked down, after which she flees without a word.
Good to know
She is the only replacement Jarl who does not come from the hold’s capital, and the only Jarl with an Argonian housecarl. Despite being the rebels’ choice, she never really says which side of the war she favours, and she even swears ‘By the Eight!’ during Laid to Rest, an odd choice for a Stormcloak appointee.
