Bromjunaar Sanctuary

Ruined Dragon Priest shrine near Labyrinthian’s entrance; wear the Wooden Mask to travel back in time and place eight masks to unlock Konahrik.

Bromjunaar Sanctuary, sometimes called the Dragon Priest Shrine, is a decayed shrine inside the ruins of Bromjunaar. You find it in the crumbling central barrow just east of the entrance to Labyrinthian – walk in and follow the path around. On its own it is a dusty dead end; with the right mask it becomes the trophy room every Dragon Priest hunter dreams of.

What you’ll find

  • The Wooden Mask – lying near skeletal remains and a mysterious note inside the barrow.
  • Time travel – put the mask on inside the barrow and you are sent back to before the sanctuary fell, standing in front of the restored shrine. Take the mask off to return.
  • The shrine – eight busts of Dragon Priests from across Skyrim, each waiting for its mask.
  • A few empty chests and urns, and a distinctly different lighting in the past.

The masks

Every named Dragon Priest drops his mask when defeated. Bring them here and place each on its bust:

When all eight sit on the shrine at once, the ninth mask, Konahrik, is revealed. After that you can take all of them back, Konahrik included, in any order.

Notable items

  • Wooden Mask
  • Konahrik (after placing all eight masks)

Tips

Do not waste time improving masks before you place them: any Smithing improvements are lost when you pick them back up, because the game hands you a fresh copy. Improve them afterwards. Also, never stash the masks in one of the chests while you are in the past – getting them back out is a real headache. You cannot leave the shrine room while wearing the Wooden Mask (an invisible wall blocks the doorway), so remove it when you are done admiring your collection.

Good to know

Collecting all eight masks means hunting down every named Dragon Priest across Skyrim. It is a long road, but few rewards look as smug on a mannequin.
