Benkongerike

Riekling-infested cave on Solstheim hiding a Cyclone Word Wall, the Black Book Untold Legends, a pedestal puzzle, silver ore and a cheeky Telekinesis tome.

Benkongerike is a sprawling cave on Solstheim, added with the Dragonborn expansion and packed with Rieklings. It lies roughly halfway between Saering’s Watch to the northwest and the Headwaters of Harstrad to the southeast. Come for the Word Wall, stay for the Black Book that nobody can quite explain being here.

What you’ll find

  • Plenty of Riekling residents who are not thrilled to have visitors.
  • An entry cave with four silver ore veins before you reach Benkongerike Great Hall.
  • The Great Hall itself, with a pedestal puzzle door and a room where a sarcophagus can be mined for three pieces of Stalhrim.
  • An expert-locked door set between two barred gates. Its key lies behind the left set of bars, out of reach of ordinary hands – Telekinesis fixes that. The room beyond holds a chest and the book Dragon Language: Myth no More.
  • A Word Wall teaching a word of Cyclone.
  • The Black Book: Untold Legends, which opens a path into Apocrypha.

Notable items

  • Black Book: Untold Legends.
  • Spell tome for Telekinesis – in a tent on the right just after entering the Great Hall, buried under a stack of thirteen copies of The Lusty Argonian Maid Vol 1 and six of Vol 2. Someone here has very particular reading habits.
  • East Empire Company Strongbox – in the Great Hall, in the puzzle door room, on the second level on top of a dark brown barrel.
  • Three pieces of Stalhrim from the sarcophagus.
  • A possible spot for Meridia’s Beacon.

Tips

The pedestal puzzle wants Eagle, Whale, Whale, Snake. If the pedestals refuse to turn, reloading an earlier save or leaving the area and coming back reportedly sorts it out. Grab the Telekinesis tome early in the Great Hall – it is the easiest way to fetch that teasing key behind the bars later. Bring a pickaxe for the silver and the Stalhrim; you will want both if you plan to craft on Solstheim.

Good to know

The name Benkongerike roughly translates to “bone kingdom” in Norwegian, which feels about right for a Riekling stronghold full of old tombs.
