Vokun

Vokun is a heavy dragon priest mask that makes Conjuration, Illusion and Alteration spells 20% cheaper, found in High Gate Ruins.

Vokun means “Shadow” in the dragon tongue, and this heavy dragon priest mask is a treat for mages who like the subtler schools. With an armor rating of 23, it is as sturdy as the other heavy masks, and its enchantment, Vokun’s Mastery, makes Conjuration, Illusion and Alteration spells all 20% cheaper to cast. Summoners and illusionists, this one is for you.

How to get it

Vokun’s tomb is in High Gate Ruins, and the mask is tied to the quest “A Scroll For Anska”. When you enter, you meet Anska, a mage who has spent years searching for the tomb because she believes a scroll proving her bloodline is hidden inside. She asks you to find it and follows you through the ruin, using her magic against the draugr. There is a puzzle along the way: the symbols on the ceiling give you the order. At the end, Vokun rises near the word wall. Defeat the dragon priest, loot his mask and bring Anska her scroll.

Is it worth wearing?

It depends on how you play. Cheaper Conjuration helps in combat, letting you keep atronachs and thralls up for less magicka. Illusion and Alteration are often used outside fights, for buffs and crowd control, so the bonus is handy but not always felt. Destruction-focused mages will prefer Nahkriin, and pure regeneration fans Morokei. Being heavy armor, it does not work with Mage Armor, which hurts the cloth-wearing crowd. Tempering only needs a Steel Ingot, so upgrades are cheap even for a low-level smith, and the mask stays relevant for a long time.

Good to know

  • One of the eight masks needed at the Bromjunaar shrine in Labyrinthian to unlock Konahrik.
  • Masks given to followers can vanish from their inventory over time.
