The Jarl’s Longhouse is the seat of government in Falkreath, a sturdy wooden hall where the jarl of Falkreath Hold lives and listens to petitions. It is no Dragonsreach, but if you want to become thane, pick up hold business or simply browse a few rare books, this is where you need to be.
What you’ll find
- Jarl Siddgeir, the young Imperial-aligned jarl.
- His steward Nenya and housecarl Helvard.
- Legate Skulnar, an Imperial Legion strategist stationed at the court.
- An Arcane Enchanter for anyone who wants to disenchant their loot on the way through.
- Side rooms and upstairs bedrooms with locked display cases.
If the Stormcloaks take Falkreath during the civil war, the court changes: Dengeir of Stuhn becomes jarl, with Tekla as steward and the Stormcloak officer Thorygg Sun-Killer at his side.
Quests
- Thane of Falkreath – earn the jarl’s favour and the title that comes with it.
- Contract: Kill Helvard – a Dark Brotherhood contract on the housecarl himself, so maybe don’t get too attached.
- Assorted radiant quests handed out by the court.
Notable items
- Death Blow of Abernanit – on a table in the room to the left.
- Guide To Better Thieving – inside an expert-locked display case in the Jarl’s bedroom.
- The Legend of Red Eagle – on a shelf in the left bedroom upstairs; it ties into The Legend of Red Eagle.
- An Ancient Nord Amulet – in a locked display case in the right bedroom.
Tips
The best loot here sits behind locks in the bedrooms, so bring lockpicks, a light step and a decent Sneak score – picking a jarl’s display case in front of his guards is a short-lived career choice. If you’re doing the Dark Brotherhood contract on Helvard, scout the hall during a quiet hour first. And when you’re done, the rest of Falkreath, with its oversized graveyard and gloomy charm, is just outside the door.
