Matze

Matze is a Dunmer beer brewed from saltrice (Dragonborn) that restores Stamina and resists frost but slows Magicka regeneration.

Matze is the Dark Elf take on beer, brewed from saltrice and added with the Dragonborn add-on. The name is simply the Dunmeri word for beer, and in practice it behaves like a strong rice beer. It is cheap at 5 gold and weighs half a unit.

Effects

  • Restores 10 Stamina.
  • Resist 20% of frost damage for 60 seconds.
  • Magicka regeneration is reduced by 25% for 60 seconds.

The frost resistance makes it a handy drink in cold places, though spellcasters will feel the Magicka penalty. Most wines and spirits in Skyrim slow Stamina recovery instead, so Matze suits warriors who want to drink without losing their wind. For stronger or longer cold protection, use a Resist Frost potion.
