Drevis Neloren

Drevis Neloren is the absent-minded Dunmer Master of Illusion at the College of Winterhold, convinced he is invisible and selling advanced Illusion spells.
“Illusion really is the least appreciated of the schools of magic.”

Drevis Neloren is a Dunmer mage and senior member of the College of Winterhold, and its resident Master of Illusion. His first words to you are a startled “you can see me?”, because he is quite sure he’s invisible. He is not. You’re free to play along, though.

Where to find them

Drevis spends his time around the College, usually in the Hall of Countenance, where he sleeps from midnight until morning, or in the Arcanaeum. Like Tolfdir he also gives lectures in the Hall of the Elements, including one on the mysterious standing stones he calls Doomstones.

Quests

Out of Balance: ask about College business and he’ll hand you a pair of Mystic Tuning Gloves and send you to cleanse the polluted focal points of magical energy around the College. Each spot rewards you with empty soul gems or a two-hour boost to your Magicka.

Illusion Ritual Spell: once you master Illusion, Drevis admits you’ve outgrown his teachings. He gives you a spell to see hidden things and sends you hunting for four tomes of powerful Illusion magic hidden around the College.

Rescue Mission: the Companions may send you to rescue him after he’s kidnapped and taken to Tolvald’s Cave, then escort him home.

Services

Drevis is a Master-level Illusion trainer and sells Illusion spell tomes, including the advanced ones. He’s also the only College trainer you can ask about the best spells in his school: his pick is anything that influences others, with Invisibility as tricky but very useful.

Personality & relationships

Drevis is dreamy and a bit scatterbrained, wishing he could escape the boring daily chores of life. He feels Illusion is the least appreciated school of magic. His sense of humour gets odd too: if Nirya or Mirabelle Ervine has died, he wonders aloud whether they might still say hi anyway.

Good to know

He carries a lot of gold, and the pile grows every time you train with him or buy from him. Pickpocketing it is tempting, but tricky, and getting caught stealing from him can bring hired thugs to your door.
