Susanna the Wicked is a Nord waitress at Candlehearth Hall in Windhelm. Despite the scary nickname she is one of the kinder people in town, much like other ironically named Skyrim folk. She has a soft spot for the Dunmer and Argonians that most Windhelm Nords look down on, and she can’t understand how her boss can dislike Dark Elves while knowing so little about them.
Where to find them
She works in Candlehearth Hall at all hours, so that’s where she’ll be until the story catches up with her. You can’t hold a proper conversation with her; she only offers short passing remarks, such as pointing out the candle on the mantle that has supposedly burned for over a century.
Quests
Susanna is flagged as essential so you can’t harm her, but she is fated to die in Blood on the Ice. According to the Butcher’s own journal, the killer watched her leave the inn late one night and waited until no guards were nearby, finally catching her in the city’s cemetery. Calixto Corrium and Silda the Unseen are at the scene as witnesses, and her body is later laid out in the Hall of the Dead in the care of Helgird.
Personality & relationships
Her employer Elda Early-Dawn claims the flirting is purely a strategy for bigger tips, and Susanna does send you off with a cheeky compliment. She once asked the cook Nils for his chaurus pie recipe, which is how the book Chaurus Pie: A Recipe came to exist.
Good to know
She wears the rare Tavern Clothes, but you can’t get them: she’s essential while alive and they’re gone from her corpse. If you skip the first talk with Jorleif during the quest, her body may never be moved to the Hall of the Dead.
