Niranye is an Altmer trader who runs a market stall in Windhelm. She came from the Summerset Isles looking for opportunity in Skyrim, and despite the Nords’ deep suspicion of anyone with pointed ears, she has carved out a very comfortable niche. How? Officially, by making the right friends. Unofficially, by having some very interesting suppliers.
Where to find them
You’ll find her at her stall in the city’s open-air marketplace during the day. She would love to travel more, but says the war and all the soldiers on the roads make it more trouble than it’s worth.
Quests
Summerset Shadows: this Thieves Guild city-influence quest from Delvin Mallory brings you to Niranye. She first plays the outraged innocent, but can be persuaded or intimidated into admitting she was forced to fence for the Summerset Shadows, a band of Altmer thieves led by Linwe, who robs the dead. She points you to their hideout in Uttering Hills Cave. If you start a fight with her during this quest, things can go badly: she is essential until it is finished and may stay hostile.
Services
She sells general goods – and she doesn’t haggle. Once Summerset Shadows is done, she also works as a fence for Guild members, with somewhere between 1,500 and 4,000 gold on hand depending on how many of Delvin’s special jobs you’ve completed. She mentions setting up profitable trade with Tonilia back in Riften.
Personality & relationships
Niranye is sharp, pragmatic and a little smug. She looks down on the Dark Elves of the Gray Quarter as too proud to adapt, and she happily notes that political chaos is great for business – lost records, forgotten taxes, distracted guards – while insisting she would never get involved in anything shady, of course. Revyn Sadri keeps begging her to reveal her cheap suppliers, and she pitches a business proposition to Captain Lonely-Gale about sailors wanting to earn extra coin. Nilsine Shatter-Shield stops by her stall every morning.
Good to know
She carries a key to a safe in her hidden basement – a nice clue that her stall is not the whole story.
