Urzoga gra-Shugurz is an Orc guard at Cidhna Mine, the prison carved into the rock of Markarth. Like every other guard down there she isn’t really a city guard at all: she is a hired mercenary on the Silver-Blood family’s payroll, and she is quick to point that out. Steel armor, a mace and a bow make it clear she isn’t there to negotiate.
Where to find them
She never leaves the mine. Her post is near the entrance to the cells, and when she sleeps it’s in one of the beds close by. If you walk up to the gate as a free visitor, she’ll tell you in no uncertain terms that the place is for prisoners and you should move along.
Quests
Urzoga is the first face you see in No One Escapes Cidhna Mine. Surrender to the Markarth guards during that storyline and you’ll be dumped into the mine, where she explains your sentence: dig silver ore until you’ve paid your debt to the city. Her speech is pure intimidation, and cracking jokes at her expense earns you a threat involving your toes.
Personality & relationships
Urzoga is all business and no warmth. She calls Cidhna the most secure prison in Skyrim and seems proud of it. Her brother, Mulush gro-Shugurz, runs the smelter in the city for the same employers, so the Silver-Bloods keep it in the family, so to speak. Among the prisoners she watches over is Borkul the Beast.
Good to know
Start a fight with a prisoner or another guard and she will keep attacking you, and yielding won’t calm her down. Once the mine business is settled you can kill her later without picking up a bounty. Her dialogue was originally meant to tell you that you’d been given a life sentence, but a quest-stage error means she never says it.
