Corpulus Vinius is the Imperial who owns The Winking Skeever, the inn in Solitude. He runs it with his son Sorex Vinius and his daughter Minette Vinius, and the townsfolk know him as the man to ask for gossip.

Corpulus is the innkeeper: he rents a bed for 10 gold and buys and sells food and drink. Ask him for rumors and he usually has one or two to share.
Personality & relationships
Corpulus is a jolly, business-first host. As far as he’s concerned, traitors, civil wars and dragons stay outside his door. When the inn is busy he likes to announce that he will retire and let Sorex take over. Sorex isn’t keen; Minette is very keen and offers to run the place herself. Corpulus says a bar is no job for a young lady. Minette points to ‘Auntie’ Faida, who runs the inn in Dragon Bridge, and Corpulus decides he will never retire at all. When a cask runs dry he just wants anything brought up fast. Minette has firm opinions on which mead should be served first.
Ask him about learning magic and he sends you to the College of Winterhold and advises against the Jarl’s court wizard. He also once had a pet skeever – they were smaller back then, apparently.
Good to know
- If Sorex dies, Corpulus can no longer be talked to and he closes the inn at night.
- If Corpulus dies, Sorex still rents out beds but won’t trade food.
- Steal from him and he may hire thugs to come after you.
