Niruin is a Bosmer thief and member of the Thieves Guild in Riften. For anyone building a bow character, he’s an important contact: he is one of the game’s Master trainers in Archery.
Where to find them
Once you’ve joined the Guild, you’ll find him in the Cistern, the Guild’s hideout beneath the city. He often practises in the training room.
Quests
Niruin has no major quest of his own, but he pops up around Under New Management, congratulating you on your new rank and toasting the Guild’s renewed wealth. He can also turn up as the captive you must free in Rescue Mission, a radiant job for the Companions.
Services
He trains Archery up to Master level. He’ll also recommend Delvin Mallory, Vex and Vipir the Fleet for other training, and suggests the Guild’s training room for lockpicking practice.
Personality & relationships
Niruin grew up rich in Valenwood, working at his father’s winery, with a mansion, friends and a fiancée. He found it all crushingly dull, so he secretly joined a gang called the Silver Crescents for the thrill of it. When his father found out, he gave Niruin a day to say goodbye and leave Valenwood, or face jail. Through a contact from his Crescent days – Delvin – he was introduced to the Guild in Skyrim and never regretted it.
He and Vipir grumble together while the Guild is struggling, and Niruin even mentions an old Valenwood contact if things get worse. Once the Guild recovers, they’re both busy and happy. In conversation with Rune, he reveals he dreams of opening a brothel one day.
Good to know
When he practises his shooting in the Cistern, you can pull the arrows out of the targets – an endless supply. He’ll keep using whatever arrow type he starts with, unless you slip him a different kind.
