Sanuarach Mine is an unmarked silver mine in the little Reach village of Karthwasten, a short trip from Markarth. Fenn’s Gulch Mine, a smaller one, sits just to its southwest. The Silver-Blood family wants this mine badly, and you’ll probably get dragged into the argument.
What you’ll find
- Seven silver ore veins spread over two wings and several wooden ramps, plus three loose silver ores on a wagon by the entrance.
- One vein in the left (northwest) wing at the top of the ramps; the rest are in the right (northeast) wing, including three past a bridge on the upper level.
- A smelter right outside the entrance, so you can turn ore into ingots on the spot.
- Atar and a trio of Silver-Blood mercenaries standing around claiming they’re keeping things safe.
Quests
Sanuarach Mine: the Silver-Bloods have sent Atar and his men to lean on the mine’s owner, Ainethach, until he sells. He is not amused, and he asks you to settle the dispute. Once the mercenaries leave, a Reach Hold Guard takes up watch over this mine, and another guards Fenn’s Gulch.
Tips
- Ignore the mercenaries’ talk: you can mine every vein without settling who owns the place first.
- Use the smelter outside before you head back, since silver ingots weigh less than a pack full of rocks.
- Do the quest anyway. Getting rid of the hired muscle makes Karthwasten noticeably friendlier, and the Silver-Bloods could use a setback.
