Shrine to Peryite

Daedric shrine far northeast of Markarth where Kesh the Clean starts The Only Cure, with an alchemy lab, a skill book and a hidden totem below.

The Shrine to Peryite is a Daedric shrine in the wild hills far to the northeast of Markarth. It lies directly southwest of Dragontooth Crater and Harmugstahl, and northwest of Karthwasten and Karthspire. A Khajiit named Kesh the Clean keeps watch over the place, and if you want a word with the Daedric Prince of pestilence, he’s the one with the shopping list.

What you’ll find

  • Kesh the Clean – the Khajiit caretaker who starts the quest as soon as you approach.
  • A Dwemer incense burner used to contact Peryite.
  • An alchemy lab and a cooking pot.
  • Ingredients around the shrine: 3 clusters of Bleeding Crown at the base of the ancient tree, 4 of Purple Mountain Flower and 2 of Blue Mountain Flower.
  • Totem to Peryite – behind the shrine to the southeast, at the foot of the mountain, a pillar depicting Peryite (much like the ones in Bthardamz) with a dead Wood Elf, a random enchanted dagger and two chests.
  • Small Dwemer ruins very close by, guarded by a Wispmother.

Quests

The Only Cure begins here. Kesh asks for four offerings: a Deathbell flower, a Flawless Ruby, a Silver Ingot and Vampire Dust. Once you have them all, he burns them in the incense burner, you take a deep breath of the fumes and Peryite starts talking.

Notable items

Tips

Gather the four offerings before you make the trek – Deathbell and Vampire Dust in particular are easy to forget. Don’t skip the totem at the bottom of the slope: two chests and a free skill book are a good reward for a short scramble. Players also warn that dismounting right next to the shrine can send your horse flying somewhere very far and very fatal, so park it a little further away.

Good to know

Unlike most Daedric shrines, there’s no statue of the Prince here. During the conversation, though, ghostly skeevers may appear around you – maybe Peryite’s familiars, maybe just the incense talking.
