Sinmir is a Nord warrior who hangs around the Bannered Mare in Whiterun and has opinions about the local guard. He thinks they’re lazy and undisciplined, says the city’s security is a disgrace, and calls Commander Caius a preening rooster whose job he could do blindfolded.
Where to find them
You’ll usually find him at the Bannered Mare. If the Stormcloaks win, he’s supposed to be in charge at Dragonsreach.
Quests
- Hired Muscle (radiant): he can be the person you’re sent to intimidate with your fists.
- Battle for Whiterun: if the Stormcloaks take the city, Sinmir gets his wish and becomes captain of the Whiterun Guard.
- Dampened Spirits: as guard captain, he attends the tasting ceremony at Honningbrew Meadery in place of Caius.
Personality & relationships
Sinmir is a born complainer with Stormcloak sympathies. Once in charge, he brags that the Stormcloaks protect the city better than the Legion’s lapdogs ever did. Hulda disagrees: she says the new Stormcloak garrison breaks her furniture every night.
Good to know
Even after his promotion he may never actually turn up at Dragonsreach, and Caius sometimes appears at Honningbrew anyway.
