Andurs is a Nord priest of Arkay, the god of life and death, and he looks after the Hall of the Dead in Whiterun. His job is preparing the departed for the afterlife, holding rites, comforting the bereaved and watching out for necromancers. Spending so much time with the dead has left him a little lonely for the living.
Where to find them
He is almost always in or around the Hall of the Dead, keeping an eye on the catacombs below.
Quests
Andurs’ Arkay Amulet: Andurs opens by asking whether you believe in Arkay, but whatever you answer, he gets round to his problem. He dropped his Amulet of Arkay somewhere in the catacombs. The amulet is both his badge of office and the source of his divine power, and without it he dare not face the restless dead he hears moving down there. Find it and he rewards you with a small purse of gold. Somewhat awkwardly, the dead carry on rising even after he gets it back.
Alessandra’s Dagger: Alessandra, who tends the Hall of the Dead in Riften, asks you to deliver a dagger to Andurs.
Personality & relationships
Andurs is earnest and a bit overworked; the war has filled his catacombs faster than he can keep up. Refuse his request and he will dryly suggest that Arkay may forgive you eventually. According to Runil’s journal, Andurs once invited the Altmer priest Runil of Falkreath to Whiterun, and the two spent nine days together in Second Seed of 4E 201.
