Amren is a Redguard former soldier who has settled down in Whiterun with his wife Saffir and their daughter Braith. He left home as a boy and wandered for years before trading the soldier’s life for family life, a choice he occasionally misses but does not regret.
Where to find them
Amren lives in the Wind District with his family. On your first visit to the city you will probably find him outside House Gray-Mane, arguing with Saffir. On Turdas he heads up to Dragonsreach, where he sometimes uses the alchemy lab or the arcane enchanter.
Quests
Amren’s Sword: the argument with Saffir is about his father’s old blade, the weapon that once fed his whole family. A thief stole it, and Amren tracked it to a bandit hideout but knows better than to storm it alone. Saffir is fed up with the money he’s spending on the hunt. Bring the sword back and he shares his father’s favourite sword-and-shield technique, raising your One-Handed and Block skills by one point each. Despite the familiar fetch-quest setup, he does not become a follower afterwards.
Services
Amren trains One-Handed.
Personality & relationships
He is a warm, easy-going man who loves his headstrong wife and dotes on his daughter. Braith wants to tag along to war as his squire, and he gently reminds her that he’s a mercenary, not a knight. When she starts asking about a certain boy, Amren swiftly passes the topic to her mother. If you are not a Nord yourself, he will happily point out that you have something in common.
Good to know
If you return his sword and Amren later dies, a courier delivers a Letter of Inheritance with 100 gold.
