Jonna

Jonna is the Redguard innkeeper of the Moorside Inn in Morthal, sister of the wizard Falion and the one who points you towards the burned house mystery.

Jonna is a Redguard who runs the Moorside Inn in Morthal. Running a tavern was never her life plan: she followed her brother Falion when he decided to settle in the swamp town, and she needed something to keep her busy while he did his wizard work. The result is an innkeeper with a dry wit, a strong accent and almost no customers.

Where to find them

She spends her days behind the counter of the Moorside Inn, the town’s only tavern, right next to the charred ruin of a house that everybody in Morthal prefers not to talk about.

Quests

Jonna is the easiest way into the quest Laid to Rest. Ask her about the burned-down house beside the inn and she tells you the grim story: Hroggar lost his wife and young daughter Helgi in the fire, and the gossip is that he set it himself. What really fuels the rumours is that he moved in with Alva the very next day. Jonna hints that the Jarl would happily pay to learn the truth. As the investigation moves along she has a few more opinions to share, including her belief that Thonnir’s wife ran off to join the Stormcloaks.

Services

Like every innkeeper she sells food and drink and will rent you a room for the night, which is about the only thing keeping her business alive.

Personality & relationships

Jonna is loyal to her brother and quick to defend him. She presses the steward Aslfur to stop the townsfolk whispering about Falion, pointing out that Morthal accepted a Jarl with visions just fine. If you ask her about magic, she tells you to go pester the mages at the College of Winterhold and leave Falion alone.

Her other cross to bear is Lurbuk, the Orc bard who lodges at the inn. She only tolerates him because he pays rent, flatly refuses his offer to write a song about her, and warns that his singing will get his throat cut one day. When Alva drops by and flirts in a rather unsettling way, Jonna simply asks if she wants something to eat.

Good to know

Business is so dead that she jokes the front door barely gets used since the war began. She also warns travellers that the marsh is a dangerous place after dark, which turns out to be an understatement.
