Hermir Strong-Heart is a Nord blacksmith-in-training in Windhelm, apprenticed to Oengul War-Anvil, whom she considers the best smith in Skyrim. She admits the work itself isn’t thrilling. What drives her is Ulfric Stormcloak: he is the reason she took up smithing, so she can arm the Stormcloaks.

Outside the Blacksmith Quarters, working at the grindstone or the workbench next to Oengul’s forge.

She is listed as a Heavy Armor trainer. For actual weapons and armor she’ll send you to Oengul, though if he dies, Hermir takes over as Windhelm’s blacksmith.
Personality & relationships
Hermir is a Stormcloak true believer. Most of her lines praise Oengul or Ulfric, and she likes the idea of a Stormcloak cutting down an Imperial soldier with one of her swords. Her banter with Oengul is a fun little sitcom: she begs to help with Ulfric’s royal armor (“maybe in a few years”), gets accused of borrowing his good hammer, and learns that orichalcum is best left to the Orcs.
If the Imperial Legion takes Windhelm, she turns cold on you, mourns Ulfric as a true hero, and swears she’ll be ready to fight again when a new leader rises.
Good to know
- Drop a weapon near her and she’ll hand it back; drop armor and she’ll ask to keep it.
- Steal from her or Oengul’s shop and she may send hired thugs after you.
- She can be the Butcher’s last target in Blood on the Ice if Arivanya is already dead.
