Lortheim is a Nord priest who has dedicated his whole life to Talos, and he has no intention of stopping just because the Empire says the worship is forbidden. He serves at the Temple of Talos in Windhelm together with his wife Jora, and he sees Ulfric Stormcloak‘s rebellion as nothing less than a holy war.
Where to find them
Head to the Temple of Talos. Gossip in town claims he spends most of his days up at the Palace of the Kings with Ulfric – but in practice you’ll find him right there in the temple.
Quests
Hide and Seek (Dawnguard): he is one of the locals you can question while hunting for a master vampire on behalf of Gunmar.
Rescue Mission: he can be the kidnapped person you are sent to save during this radiant quest for the Companions. In that case you’ll find him in Chillwind Depths.
Personality & relationships
Lortheim is a true believer. He grumbles that the Empire owes its very existence to Talos and yet shows him no respect, and he firmly sides with the Stormcloaks. If the Imperials win the war, he wonders aloud who will be brave enough to stand up for Talos now.
His marriage seems to be suffering for his faith and politics. Jora complains to Elda Early-Dawn at Candlehearth Hall that she barely sees her husband outside of breakfast, and that his loyalty to the Stormcloaks seems to outweigh his loyalty to her.
Good to know
The couple stick together when it counts: kill Lortheim and Jora may hire thugs to come after you, and if Jora dies, Lortheim may track you down himself and demand an apology – or your life. He has also been known to send hired thugs after the Dragonborn at random for theft, even when nothing of his was taken.
