Bassianus Axius is a Nord – yes, despite the very Imperial name – who lives in Ivarstead and is thoroughly fed up with it. He shares a house with his friend Klimmek and has his eye on a bigger life in Riften. The only thing keeping him in the village is Fastred, the farm girl he’s in love with.
Where to find them
He lives in Klimmek’s house and spends a lot of his free time at the Vilemyr Inn, drinking and chatting with the innkeeper Wilhelm.
Quests
The Book of Love: Bassianus is the man Fastred is torn over. He wants her to come with him to Riften. Whatever you decide during the quest, he packs up and leaves for Riften afterwards, where he can be seen wandering the market and sometimes working at the workbench outside The Scorched Hammer.
Rescue (Dawnguard): he is one of the friendly townsfolk who can be held captive by a Master Vampire in a rescue job from Florentius Baenius.
Personality & relationships
Bassianus comes across as arrogant and snarky, the kind of guy who asks why you’d bother visiting Ivarstead if you aren’t a pilgrim. Underneath the attitude he’s simply restless. According to Boti, he is also terrified of Fastred’s father, Jofthor.
