Spriggans are wooden nature spirits that protect forests and groves. They’re easy to miss until they peel themselves off a tree trunk and send a bear your way.
Where to find them
Forested areas and sacred groves, for example Eldergleam Sanctuary (in the quest “The Blessings of Nature”) and Witchmist Grove, and especially in the southern holds like the Rift and Falkreath Hold.
Abilities & attacks
- Commands nearby animals – bears, wolves, sabre cats – to fight for it
- Full self-heal, usually once per fight
- Turns nearly invisible
- Poison spray at range and poison claws up close
How to beat it
Fire is your friend against all but the Burnt Spriggan. When a spriggan crouches down at low health, it's healing itself and takes very little damage – interrupt it with a shield bash or a staggering shout like Unrelenting Force. Kill its animal allies first if they're piling on. When it goes invisible, follow the glowing insects that swarm around it.
