Old Attius Farm

Abandoned farm south of Raven Rock, the only farm on Solstheim, where Captain Veleth battles ash spawn and the quest March of the Dead begins.

Old Attius Farm is an abandoned, half-ruined farm on Solstheim, added with the Dragonborn expansion. It sits south of Raven Rock, and it’s often one of the first places new arrivals stumble across. The fields have long been left to themselves, but the ash yams keep on growing, and so does the trouble.

What you’ll find

  • Captain Veleth – the Redoran captain is here fighting off a group of ash spawn when you first arrive.
  • A fallen Redoran Guard – carrying a full set of bonemold armor, plus an elven sword, a bow and arrows.
  • Crops and ingredients – plenty of ash yams left over from the farm’s working days, and scathecraw growing all around.
  • Uninvited guests – random enemies such as mages, ash spawn and Wood Elf archers sometimes appear on a small hillock to the south.

Quests

March of the Dead starts here. Captain Veleth needs help protecting Raven Rock from the ash spawn attacks, and the trail eventually leads further afield to Fort Frostmoth. Helping him here is the natural first step.

Notable items

  • Full bonemold armor set on the dead Redoran Guard
  • Elven sword, bow and arrows
  • Ash yams and scathecraw

Tips

Jump in and help Veleth straight away – the ash spawn are no pushovers and a dead captain helps nobody. Afterwards, loot the fallen guard: a complete bonemold set is a decent early boost if you’re arriving on Solstheim with tired gear. Sneak a little when approaching, as the farm is close enough to that southern hillock for random enemies to spot you.

Keep an ear out for a group of hunters who sometimes gather south-southeast of the farm, planning to bring down a bull netch. Talk to them and they’ll invite you along – a fun detour if you’ve never seen a giant floating jellyfish take a beating.

Good to know

Old Attius Farm is the only farm on all of Solstheim. Considering the ash, the ash spawn and the general mood of the island, it’s not hard to see why farming never really caught on.
