Vilod was a Nord villager who lived in Helgen. He seems to have run the town’s inn – at least, he answers questions the way Skyrim’s innkeepers do. On the cart ride into town, Ralof fondly wonders if Vilod still brews his special mead with juniper berries mixed in, which suggests the two knew each other back in Ralof’s younger days.
Where to find them
He’s in Helgen during the executions. Return to the town later and you’ll find several bottles of his mead in the burned-out inn.
Quests
Vilod appears in Unbound. Old friendship with Ralof or not, he cries “Justice!” when the first Stormcloak prisoner loses his head, with Ingrid chiming in right after. When Alduin attacks, he’s mortally wounded while helping the Imperial soldiers.
Personality & relationships
An Imperial loyalist with a talent for brewing. Ask him where to learn magic and he sends you to the College of Winterhold without much interest in the subject.
Good to know
If you head back into Helgen straight after escaping with Hadvar, Vilod can sometimes be found alive near the chopping block.
