Matlara was a Nord citizen of Helgen, living there with her husband Torolf and their young son Haming. Like most of the town’s residents, she doesn’t survive the morning the dragon returns.
Where to find them
During the executions you can spot her standing on her porch in Helgen. Later, as the town burns, she’s found badly wounded near the main gate.
Quests
Matlara appears in Unbound. She is one of the people killed during Alduin‘s attack, along with her husband – leaving Haming to be led away by Gunnar Stone-Eye.
Personality & relationships
We see very little of Matlara herself; her story is told mainly through her family. Torolf tries to keep their curious son inside as the soldiers march past, and the boy is eventually taken to safety at Froki’s Shack.
Good to know
Occasionally she can be seen alive outside after you’ve escaped Helgen, walking back towards the ruined town even though she’s supposed to be dead.
