Nirya is an Altmer sorceress and student at the College of Winterhold, perched above the ruins of Winterhold. She is ambitious, deeply impressed by herself and quite certain everyone else is plotting against her.
Where to find them
She lives at the College and can be met around its grounds. She says her job outside is to help anyone interested in joining – and that her presence conveniently scares the locals away.
Quests
Ask her what she’s doing out there and, if you haven’t already begun, it starts First Lessons, the opening quest of the College storyline. You still have to speak to Faralda to actually get in.
Personality & relationships
Nirya’s big obsession is Faralda. Talk to her and she launches straight into denials of whatever Faralda supposedly told you, then explains that Faralda is threatened by her talent, posture and superior looks. Faralda, for her part, shows no sign of caring. Nirya also openly says the College needs new leadership and criticises Arch-Mage Savos Aren, but if you become Arch-Mage she switches to shameless flattery, hinting that you’ll remember who was most helpful – despite having done nothing at all.
She doesn’t trust Ancano and thinks he’s up to something, though she admits he is rather handsome.
Good to know
- Her robes are Expert Robes of Destruction, yet her only skill above 25 is Alteration.
- If she dies, you may receive a letter from Faralda saying she knows you did it but won’t tell anyone.
