Savos Aren

Savos Aren is the Dunmer Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold. He’s reserved and unhurried, running the College with the air of someone who trusts that everything will work itself out – which is not always the best attitude when the Eye of Magnus shows up.

Background

Savos is over a hundred years old. As an apprentice he joined an ill-fated expedition into Labyrinthian, led by the Arch-Mage’s favourite pupil, Atmah. He was the only one to come back. Before leaving, he bound two surviving mages in an enchanted trance to keep a barrier around the dragon priest Morokei – a secret you uncover in “The Staff of Magnus”.

In the questline

After the discovery at Saarthal he rewards you with an enchanted item and sends you to Urag gro-Shub for research. As the crisis around the Eye grows and Ancano makes his move, Savos plays a central – and tragic – part in the story.
