Sun Stone

All-Maker Stone just north of Tel Mithryn, enslaved by Miraak and worked by entranced Reavers until you free it with Bend Will.

The Sun Stone is one of the All-Maker Stones on Solstheim, added with the Dragonborn expansion, and one of the shrines built for Miraak. It stands just north of Tel Mithryn, the tower of the wizard Neloth. You will come here to cleanse it – and to wake up the poor souls building something around it.

What you’ll find

  • The stone itself, a shrine built to serve Miraak.
  • Reavers under mind control, toiling away at the stone.
  • Ulves Romoran among the entranced workers.
  • Anyone in a trance here will recite Miraak’s Mantra if you try to chat with them – conversation is not their strong suit at the moment.

Quests

Cleansing the Stones – use Bend Will on the Sun Stone to purge Miraak’s influence, just as with the island’s other stones such as the Wind Stone.

Notable items

Once cleansed, the stone grants the Sun Flare effect.

Tips

The workers are not your enemies – they are victims – so keep your weapon sheathed and let the shout do the talking. If you happen to roam about as a werewolf, the entranced Reavers will not turn hostile even then, which says a lot about how deep that trance goes. Talking to them is harmless, if repetitive. A trip here pairs nicely with a visit to Tel Mithryn next door, so plan your route through the ash wastes accordingly.

Good to know

The Sun Stone is not a one-off: Miraak has claimed several of Solstheim’s stones as shrines, and Cleansing the Stones has you freeing each of them in turn with the same shout. Each one you cleanse is one fewer place where his followers sit chanting his name, and the Sun Stone is a convenient early target if you are already in the ash lands around Tel Mithryn.
