Lake Honrich, once called Lake Honnith, is a huge lake that fills much of The Rift in Skyrim’s southeastern corner. The only inland water in Skyrim of a similar size is Lake Ilinalta. Riften sits on its eastern shore, the Treva River flows in, and Goldenglow Estate occupies a cluster of islands in the middle.
What you’ll find
- Fish: Abecean longfin, river betty and salmon.
- Slaughterfish are listed, but reportedly the lake only has their eggs. You’d have to fish one up.
- Goldenglow Estate’s islands, a tempting swim from Riften’s docks.
Quests
The Pursuit sends you after the Quill of Gemination around here.
Tips
The lack of slaughterfish makes this one of the safer big swims in Skyrim, which is handy if you’re heading for Goldenglow without a boat. Bring a fishing rod if you’ve got one, since the lake is well stocked.
Good to know
In 1E 139, King Harald’s Nords fought the Snow Elves here. They met fierce resistance at first, found fewer elves near the shore, and then had to pull back when the elves counterattacked. A darker local tale comes from Ungrien: he claims Maven Black-Briar had his three predecessors at the Black-Briar Meadery killed and dumped in the lake.
